So, this is my first blog. You may be asking: Why blog? Why now? I have had a number of conversations about the best ways to get information to parents and to the public. A clear answer is to use the technology available and to use the most common methods. A blog seemed to make sense. I will be seeking to share current events at OHMS along with information and literature around middle school education.
As an example, this is a good time to remind parents that the second quarter will be coming to an end on January 21st. It is always a good idea to check in with your child's teachers and to check his/her grades on Infinite Campus.

- I feel privileged to be Oak Hill Middle School's first principal. We have a unique opportunity to build a school that meets the developmental needs of a middle school student. It is challenge that we are tackling together. We will be continually seeking parent and community input to help in this process. So, who is this person your kids see everyday? I am a proud father of two. My son, Connor, is in 8th grade and my daughter, Laura, is in 5th. My better 2/3 (Mrs. Ireland) is also an educator, teaching 4th grade at the Carrie-Ricker School. I enjoy coaching and watching my children's activities. I am passionate about fly-fishing. I have worked in this district for 15 years now. About 1/3 of this time was as a special educator, 1/3 as a 6th and 8th grade teacher and the rest as an Asst. Principal. I look forward to many more years serving the children from our three communities.
